It is official ladies. Warm weather has officially graced our presence and it is time to start shedding those layers of clothing that kept us warm during the winter season. Are you looking for an amazing way to keep cool but still remain fashionable? Are you unsure of where to begin? Look no further because I have an amazing treat in store for you today!

I've recently become really big on stepping outside of my comfort zone and surprise, something great came from doing so. When I first began this blog, I was too afraid to approach fashionistas and CEOS of brands that I admired so I would do small write ups about their style or legacy. However, I decided that I wanted to kick things up a notch and really invest in my blog by taking the time out to actually reach out to said fashionistas/CEOs before I posted information about their style or brand. You all should know that Instagram is my best friend when it comes down to locating new fashionistas or brands to possibly feature on the blog.

I've had the amazing opportunity to reach out to a wonderful, beautiful and fierce young woman by the name of Laina Rauma recently because her designs are very trendy, not to mention H-O-T. Mind you, I was very hesitant about initially reaching out to her but she immediately responded to my email inquiry regarding having her designs featured on the blog. Once you get a peek of the designs that define the brand behind Laina Rauma then you will be sure to understand why I just had to feature them on the blog. I was able to conduct a small interview with her via email and I would love to share that with you all today:

1. Hello Laina Rauma. It is a pleasure to be able to communicate with you. First thing’s first. Who is Laina Rauma exactly?

Haha. There are a million ways to answer that question!! Part Canadian Bunny Rabbit, Part Alien, all female, all kinds of crazy. ;-)

    2. Has fashion always been an interest/passion of yours?

Always. Since I can remember. I tried sewing my own sweater at 7 with my mother's sewing machine. (It was awful and I hid it but the passion was there!)

  3. What led you to begin designing and creating a business around that?

I started going to thrift stores at 6 years old with my grandma and aunties and they were all just so beautiful with the most unique style. Growing up around that -- it's hard not to be influenced by such confidence and individuality -- I just always wanted to look different. I started re-working vintage clothes and then learning to make my own. People started asking where things came from and I thought "heyyy.. I could do this.."

4. What are some of the things that inspire the designs that you create?

Women. Vintage pictures/ads, old tv shows, other designers, other artists, old men, young men, mermaids.. haha. Anything beautiful and interesting, really. I'm inspired by everything that is great and in my line of vision. We all are. It starts to get me thinking about what I'd pull from those inspirations and how I'd like to wear it and then I make it. Everything I make it something I want to wear myself. I'm basically just working on my wardrobe all the time. haha ;-)

5. Out of all of the products that you have designed, which design(s) is/are your personal favorite?

That's like asking me to choose a favorite child! So of course, I choose the prettiest one. haha. No, I don't have one. It changes every time I make something new.

6. What type of women are your designs geared towards?

Confidant women who love their bodies and like to stand out a little bit. Not in an obnoxious way, just an "I feel amazing and I want to share that" kinda way. I design for emotional dressers. Mood dressers. Ladies who dress for the feeling, as opposed to the occasion.

7. What helps to keep you motivated throughout the week?

My dreams!!! This is all I've ever wanted, ever. To design, create and share. I can't stop now! More, more, more.

         8. Do you have any personal mantras that you swear by?

Hmmm… I love nipples so if you don't feel like wearing a bra, don't. Your body and every little detail is unique and beautiful so if you're comfortable, others will be too. Own the fuck out of your body. You only get one. ;-)

9. What advice do you have for anyone who is interested in starting their own business?

Do it for one reason and one reason, only. Because you love it. Because nobody will be there to get you out of bed at 4am and nobody will tell you to keep going. You have to feel it in your whole body and soul and waaaant to do it or it just won't work. It's not easy. You have to feel like in your heart, there's no other choice. No plan B. Then it'll work, I promise.

10. Is there anything else that you would like to add about who you are and your business?

Just that I adore women and every crazy little thing about us. We're insecure, and cocky at the same time and all we really want is to feel good and be good. I want to help with that by being there in your closet when you feel like being "on."
