Joy Snatchers
I decided that it would be interesting to document my responses to GG Renee's, of All The Many Layers,  #30Layers30Days Self-Discovery Challenge on the blog. If you're unsure of what I'm referring to then please be sure to head over to All The Many Layers for an official description of this #30Layers30Days Self-Discovery Challenge. GG Renee has also listed 44 Self-Discovery Quotes to Inspire You if you're participating in the challenge but the quotes that she has listed also serve as general inspiration overall.  My personal take on the #30Layers30Days Self-Discovery Challenge is that it purposely serves as a way to get to know yourself even further. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life which can cause us to forget to listen to ourselves.
Jumping right into day 2 of the challenge, at this point in life I can identify the things that put me in a sour mood. Generally I am very happy-go-lucky but there are things that can throw me off balance and I feel that the title of today's challenge accurately describes said things; joy snatchers. I mentioned in yesterday's entry of the #30Layers30Days Self-Discovery Challenge that I've been slowly unplugging from social media bit by bit. This may seem puzzling since I'm participating in this challenge but what that means is that I'm not always checking Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Tumblr throughout the day anymore. I may say 'good morning' or 'happy [insert day of the week]' but I've drawn back simply because some people are just negative.

I understand that negativity is a part of life but I also believe that if you consistently feed into negativity then it literally will consume your life. It has taken me a long time to understand that sometimes even the people closest to you can become joy snatchers and that it's perfectly fine to set boundaries! It is extremely important for me to be able to hear myself think clearly and when I start to feel like I can hear the voices of others over my own, I have to pull back and draw the line for my own peace of mind. Boundaries aren't necessarily meant to shut everyone out of your life but they are definitely meant to serve as guidelines so that you're not allowing anything into your space that can alter your demeanor negatively.

I love that the challenges seem to be thought-provoking and I highly encourage you to participate in the #30Layers30Days Self-Discovery Challenge!
