Happy Monday! Today is Memorial Day which means that the weekend has been extended. (Un)luckily for me, I also have tomorrow off. I debated about whether I'd share what's been going on with me but I'll just say: S T R E S S is not my friend. My body is pretty unhappy with me right now so I have to spend tomorrow afternoon in a doctor's office. Fun. On a very serious note, I haven't really been giving myself a break. I've been focused on finishing up my last two classes for school, searching for a concrete internship and working. Don't get me wrong. I'm a busy body at heart so I don't mind having things to do but I've completely strayed away from the balance that I was beginning to have in place. Besides having to spend tomorrow in a doctor's office, I knew something was wrong with when I started coming home, briefly speaking to my visiting grandparents and heading upstairs to my room.

My point is that you can't wait for someone to give you permission to rest. Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, we need breaks in life! This isn't a matter of being selfish. It's simply a matter of making sure that you're taking care of yourself while accomplishing your goals or extending your kindness/attention to others. Shut the outside world out. Unplug. Decompress. Make time in your busy schedule for you! Of course you are always welcome to stay on the go, but sooner or later your body will make you slow down. It's important to be in tune with yourself so that you can spot the warning signs that your body gives you.

Today I'm going to do something different and spend time reading at a park to get some fresh air. Since I spent a huge chunk of Saturday and Sunday in bed, I'm at a point where I feel like being out and about. Generally, I'm okay after 1-2 days of doing absolutely nothing to feel like myself again. Your 'me time' doesn't have to last for days or weeks if you don't want them to. However much time it takes for you to feel balanced again is always going to be the right answer for you. I'm not sure what you have planned for today but I hope that you enjoy it nonetheless!
